Introduction

                 

The School of Public Health and the Institute of Health Research started formally in June 1966. However, the beginning of the School of Public Health goes back to the establishment of Tehran University and the establishment of Parasitology Chair and Investigation Section in 1940. The Environmental Health Engineering Department also started its activity since the establishment of the School of Public Health. As the number and diversity of environmental pollutions increase and the knowledge of health issues regarding environmental health expands, so does the responsibilities of this department.

Environmental health degree program is founded, established and stayed as a basic study course in health and environmental science studying at universities and higher education institutions in order to train skillful and expert highest human resource for recognition, management and controlling the environmental factors for sustaining and promotion of human health.

 

Mission: Training students with the highest practical and scientific qualifications possible and generating knowledge through research, providing services to the country, the society and producing environmental health specialists are among the objectives of this department.

 

Vision: Having a favorable environment by emphasizing on the management of environmental risks that endanger the health and environment of human beings in any way.

Course description 

Environmental health engineering is one of public health science branches which pays to recognition controlling and assessment of interactions between factors (water, soil and air) and human health and finally planning, designing and management of all these factors including man-made and natural ones so as to provide, maintain and enhance human health and well-being by disease prevention and Environmental sanitization.

Compensatory courses: compensatory courses are offered for students have not passed in the previous section.  Students are obligated to pass the all/some module titles (as shown in above table) according to advice of the department, approved by the graduate council of university.

* The mandatory course for those students who have not passed before.

** Topics are including the environmental ecology, air pollution, radiation health and safety, waste solids, health control of food preparation and distribution sites, which were presented in Bachelor of Sciences section.
