The Department of Pathobiology

Introduction

As the SPH was established in 1966 the Department of Pathobiology started its scientific and research activities in Microbiology, Immunology, and Virology as a prominent and axial department.

After the Islamic Revolution of 1975, Master and Ph.D courses in each related area were established. In addition to its Seven related educational fields, this department provide educational services for Parasitology, Medical Mycology, Biochemistry, Nutrition, and MPH courses for Immunology and Microbiology. Recently, with regard to the extensive activities in the area of Virology, an independent department was established for Virology. At the moment the Department of pathobiology has Five Educational field, as follow:

MS course in Microbiology

MS course in Immunology

MS course in Food Microbiology

PhD course in Medical Bacteriology

PhD course in Immunology

It worth noting that students of Immunology and Microbiology will only be accepted through national exam of Ministry of Health and Medical Education.

 

When the School of Public Health (SPH) was established in 1966, the Department of Pathobiology was a prominent and axial department of the school. The department began its academic and scientific research activities in the fields of Microbiology, Immunology, and Virology. After the Islamic Revolution of 1975, the department had opened Masters and Ph.D courses in each of these fields. Besides, it has been providing additional courses on Parasitology, Medical Mycology, Biochemistry, Nutrition, and Immunology and Microbiology courses for MPH. Overtime the field Virology became an independent department. Currently the Department of pathobiology is actively engaged in the following educational fields:

MSc course in Microbiology

MSc course in Immunology

MSc course in Food Microbiology

PhD course in Medical Bacteriology

PhD course in Immunology

The potential students for the above courses are accepted only if they are confirmed successful in the national entrance examination provided by the Ministry of Health and Medical Education.
