The M8 is an alliance of pioneer universities and academies that was established during the World Health Summit (WHS) in 2009. Its headquarter is in Berlin, Germany. It aims to promote connections between top world universities to improve world’s health and to have an important role in setting the agenda of Forums to influence the health related decisions. Annually, the members of this alliance choose the WHS as a platform of presenting and pursuing this grand aim. The M8 Alliance with the collaboration of politicians and economists strives to transform theoretical and fundamental research of the health arena into practical medical and health solution with appropriate cost-benefits and focusing on prevention of diseases to tackle global health- and medical-related issues and challenges, including demographic changes, non-communicable diseases, migration, extensive urbanization and climate changes.
